Make an Acrostic Poem for Father’s Day

Fathers Day

Father’s Day is just around the corner.

Here at MarbleSpark, we are especially thankful for the three dads who co-founded our company. Together they formed who we are today!

This special day is the perfect time to let dad know how much he means to you. A fun way to do this is to create an acrostic poem. This homemade gift is thoughtful, easy and best of all, free!

How to Make an Acrostic Poem

An acrostic poem is a poem in which the first letters of each line spell out a word or phrase. The first letter of each line is usually capitalized which makes it simpler to see the word spelled out vertically on the page.

4 Steps to Create an Acrostic Poem:

  1. Choose your topic or what you want to write about
  2. Write the word or phrase vertically down a piece of paper
  3. Think of words or phrases to describe your topic
  4. Write the words, phrases or even sentences on the lines that begin with each letter

Acrostic poems don’t have to rhyme. And since you don’t need to worry about rhythm, the lines can be as long or as short as you’d like. You can also choose one word or several words to write vertically.

Below is an example of a ‘Happy Father’s Day’ acrostic poem written by one of our boys. Our kids are giving their version to dad this Father’s Day.

He’s so awesome
Amazing at his job
Plays lots of golf
Plays soccer with me
Yay for Dad!

Fun to be around
Always there to help me
Takes his time on something new
He cares for me
Everyday he makes me happy
Reads and gets smarter
So cool

Does everything he can to help
Always funny
You are the best dad ever!

It’s that simple!

Poetry is a great way to express to dad how much he means to you. The funny and thoughtful phrases that go into making an acrostic poem will be cherished by him long after the day is over.

So gather the kids, pencils, paper, and start writing!
