Happy birthday, Theodor Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) by Brad Sneed

Today would be the 113th birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.

Seuss was a creative genius. Did you know he produced two Oscar-winning films during WWII? Of course, most of us know Dr. Seuss best for filling our children’s bookshelves with hilarious, touching picture books filled with his unique illustration style and tight verse.

To honor his birthday, here are a few of our favorite Dr. Seuss rhymes:

“And will you succeed? Yes you will indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)”

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

“From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.”

“You’ll be on your way up! You’ll be seeing great sights! You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.”

“With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down any not-so-good street.”

“You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who’ll decide where to go.”

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”
